The Work
The Data Architect, Enterprise Data Management will be responsible for modernizing EQB’s Data and Data Platform Architecture. They will transform the data and data platform architecture by developing principles, policies, standards and patterns. They will liaise with various development groups, business groups and customers to ensure adherence to critical data architectural principles. In addition, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring the integrity of data, allowing for effective, accurate and timely generation of all enterprise reports.

The Work
The Data Architect, Enterprise Data Management will be responsible for modernizing EQB’s Data and Data Platform Architecture. In addition, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring the integrity of data, allowing for effective, accurate and timely generation of all enterprise reports.
The Core Responsibilities!
- Strategy and Planning (20%)
- Lead key data architecture and design decisions in support of the data platform and pipelines modernization.
- Provide inputs and help refine EQB’s Data Roadmap.
- Develop and recommend novel and innovative approaches to solve business and technical problems in the data and analytics domain.
- Building of Data Models and Supporting Data Operations (35%)
- Participate in Joint Application Development sessions with business units to gather and understand their data and reporting requirements.
- Design and update data models for initiatives.
- Document models and create technical documents that can be leveraged by various teams.
- Create ERD, DFDs and other data modelling diagrams as required.
- Work closely with the Enterprise Data Governance team to help implement data governance policies.
- Enhancing EQB’s Data Platform Architecture (35%)
- Incorporate cloud-based technologies into EQB’s Data Platform Architecture.
- Develop repository of best practices for various data platform components based on EQB’s current and future needs.
- Assist in the definition of platform architecture approach, standards, and component designs.
- Continuously assess leading data technologies and provide guidance on incorporating them within EQB’s data platform.
- Support and Maintenance of Enterprise Data Warehouse (10%)
- Support existing Enterprise Data Warehouse objects.
- Provide data related technical support for downstream applications.
- Responsible for enhancing/creating documents for existing Enterprise Data Warehouse objects.
Let's Talk About You!
- Post-Secondary education, preferably in the areas of Technology or Commerce/Business Administration.
- At least 10+ years of experience in designing, architecting and implementing large scale data processing/data storage/data distribution systems.
- Experience in creating scalable data models supporting a wide variety of end user audience (Visual Analysts, BI Developers, and Data Scientists etc.).
- Experience in integrating multiple sources into a centralized data platform or Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Experience in working with traditional structured row store data, semi-structured and dynamic schemas such as XML, JSON.
- Experience with BI tools and their data needs (i.e. Power BI, Tableau as examples).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
