The Role

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for the production, interpretation and dissemination of high quality analytics to stakeholders in all areas of the business. Working within the CIO’s technology function, you will work very closely with data engineering and the analyst functions in other areas of the business, designing, building, and interpreting complex data sets, producing reliable reports, one-off analyses and actionable insight.

Data and insight are key assets for The Office Group and are seen as areas of significant opportunity. The Senior Data Analytics Engineer will help deliver new capabilities in these areas that will unlock value, drive efficiencies and support operations across the business.

Positioned within the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) technology function and reporting to the Head of Data & Systems Development, you will work closely with data engineering and the analyst functions in other areas of the business, to design, build, and interpret complex data sets, provide clean data sets to end users, model data in a way that empowers colleagues to answer their own questions, and work directly with different analysts and stakeholders to provide high quality insight to all areas of the business.

You will build strong relationships with senior stakeholders in all areas of the business, understanding what data and analytics are required, prioritising and aligning with the strategic data & analytics roadmap and partnering with data engineers, other technical teams and analysts in Commercial Finance, FP&A, and Business Strategy, to deliver work of the highest quality.

The role requires experience working within an application delivery and business reporting environment, and familiarity with the Azure Data Platform and related technologies. 

The work delivered by you and the wider data team will enable better decisions to be made in all areas of the  business, directly creating additional value and improving operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyse and model data from different sources, including internal systems and third-party tools, to build new, clean data sets and models for end users.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic analytics priorities and measure progress against these.
  • Build new reports to provide repeatable, high-quality insight to stakeholders and enable users to self-serve their own data & insight requirements.
  • Work with business representatives to understand the structure and flow of the business’ work, identifying new application and reporting solutions.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders based on data analysis, helping them make informed decisions and drive business growth.
  • Drive data governance initiatives by establishing data quality standards, ensuring data accuracy, and implementing data security measures.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in analytics tools and technologies, and the latest industry trends, evaluating their potential to improve our data analysis capabilities.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data infrastructure, systems, and tools are optimised to support efficient data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings simply and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and visualisations.
  • Provide technical support and problem resolution for related business reporting software systems & solutions.
  • Help foster a culture of data-driven decision making within the organisation, promoting the use of analytics to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in data, engineering and analytics
  • Proven track record of delivering impactful insights and recommendations based on data analysis
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and practices
  • Experience working with large datasets and using statistical analysis techniques
  • Ability to build credibility with all stakeholder groups by demonstrating the highest quality of thinking and integrity of output  
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect data insights to business objectives and company strategy
  • Working with senior stakehlders and analysts to develop data and insight requirements
  • Detailed understanding of semantic model design and maintenance
  • A Computer Science or related degree equivalent
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Extensive experience in Power BI model development, report design and implementation, including Power Query and DAX
  • Knowledge of Python and Juniper notebooks
  • Experience of REST/OData API Framework integrations
  • Extensive experience of requirements gathering, prioritisation, solution design and build
  • Practical experience with the Microsoft Data Platform stack, including configuration and management of Data Factory, Azure SQL Server,  Data Lakes, and Delta Lakes
  • Understanding of the Azure Data Integration stack including Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Messaging technologies
  • Demonstrate a strong analytical mind and problem-solving skills
  • A creative thinker with attention to detail
  • to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across borders and functions
