Colorado School of Mines is seeking an experienced Integration Engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career with us. Workday and Ellucian Banner SaaS development experience is highly preferred. Although the person we select will be a skilled developer, they will also be enthusiastic and comfortable meeting with end users to gather and document requirements, translate them into an integration design, and then code and test the resulting integration.The Data Integration Engineer is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and support of data integrations and migrations for the ERP, student information system, and new system implementations. This individual is a member of the Application Services team within the Information Technology Department. This team ensures seamless delivery as we support Campus through best-in-class customer service.
The Data Integration Engineer helps create an environment that encourages and builds on process efficiency and effectiveness to enable and integrate systems into the existing Mines application landscape. The candidate we select will be focused on building and supporting system-to-system data integration solutions that align with industry trends and position the school for long-term growth and sustainability. This position establishes and utilizes best practices, research and resolve complex day-to-day integration and migration issues, gather requirements from vendors and business partners for data migrations and integrations, and build the solutions to meet these requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Other Attributes (KSAOs):
The candidate we select for this role has demonstrated experience in the following areas:
SQL coding skills
Ability to convey ideas and recommendations to a wide variety of audiences at all levels in a clear, compelling and succinct way in written and verbal communications.
Analytical skills and experience with complete lifecycle of enterprise projects.
Attention to detail and relentless commitment to follow-through.
Exceptional understanding of industry accepted security best practices.
Knowledge of SDLC and SaaS solution implementation and management.
Knowledge of the Data Processing Cycle.
Proven ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with cross functional team members.
Duties assigned to this dynamic position include but are not limited to:
- Analyzing new systems and working with business and technical teams to develop functional and technical requirements to integrate them with existing systems.
Developing and execute data migration solutions which ensure the new systems contain the data necessary to enable proper function and provide the historical data necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Developing and maintaining data integrations and components, utilizing pre-built application data integration connectors, internal and external API-based integrations, and batch upload integrations using secure file transfer methods.
Determining and designing changes to existing systems integrations that improve performance or enhance operations as driven by business needs.
Ensuring data structures and integration data flows are well documented and facilitate process and procedures to ensure documentation is comprehensive and kept up to date as support and change requirements evolve.
Monitoring the movement of data between systems and data stores, maintaining the integrity of data, providing for required transformations, and ensuring error-free, timely, and documented execution. Detecting and diagnoses of integration processing exceptions and systematically resolving them through developed solutions.
Establishing, monitoring, and maintaining alerting/notifications and metrics related to all integrations
Partnering with the Information Security and Privacy and Compliance teams to ensure data structures and data flows allow only “need to know” access to enterprise and other sensitive data within the environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- This position requires at least a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in computer science, information technology, or equivalent advanced technical training and experience. OR;
Individuals without a related degree may be considered if they demonstrate possession of the same knowledge level found in a degree but have attained advanced knowledge through a combination of work experience and intellectual instruction using a 1:1 substitution.
This position requires at least two years designing, developing, scheduling, and executing data integrations in a developer role with demonstrated use of SIS or modern ERP system(s).
Demonstrated experience automating and/or maintaining scheduled jobs to ensure maximum data uptime.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with on-prem and SaaS enterprise software (Workday, Ellucian Banner SaaS), modern cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, Dell Boomi, Mulesoft, Informatica, Workday cloud, etc.), systems and integration strategies.
Demonstrated experience in Workday is highly preferred
Ellucian Banner SaaS experience is highly preferred
Proven ability to read and analyze raw data files and compare with transformed data to identify processing problems.
Experience with ETL tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Data Factory (ADF), Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), iPaaS.
Experience working with relational databases, data modeling, migrations and optimizations.
Experience in designing workflows to solve business and technical problems.
Experience integrating structured and unstructured data formats: files, XML, JSON, EXCEL.
Experience integrating data from any source via API, SFTP, or browser-based file uploads.
Salary and Benefits
$86,700 - $93,600 annual salary
