We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success. geocgi is looking for a GIS Developer to provide technical support of the US Coast Guard’s Waterway Analysis and Management System (WAMS) project. This position is fully remote with preference for candidates located in the Washington DC Metro Area. The GIS Developer will help process geospatial Big Data, integrate custom geospatial solutions into an Angular/JavaScript front end, and collaborate with a dynamic, cross-functional team. The GIS Developer will execute the responsibilities of a GIS Developer, which include:

  • Conduct advanced geographic analyses that provide insights and support decision-making for USCG waterway and Aids to Navigation (ATON) management.
  • Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, and maintain web-based mapping applications, including Esri based dashboards.
  • Support the senior front-end developer in displaying, interacting with, and customizing geospatial data services within a web application’s front end.
  • Develop and document data service/data analysis update tools and procedures to streamline and future-proof the maintenance of the WAMS web applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data services and application functions as necessary.
  • Respond to technical questions from testers and stakeholders in the WAMS project.
  • Proactively design data visualizations.
  • Collaborate across teams with fellow geocgi staff to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Esri GeoAnalytics Engine and Spark environment for Big Data processing.
  • Ingest and analyze live/near-live geospatial datasets into an interactive web map.
  • Assist in creating technical training and documentation for future users.

The following are requirements of the GIS Developer:

  • US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance or DHS Suitability.
  • 4 years of GIS industry experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; or 3 years of experience with an advanced diploma
  • 3-4 years of Python-based development, including custom Esri tools and scripts.
  • 1-2 years of JavaScript experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and/or Portal for ArcGIS/ArcGIS Online.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills, including preparing correspondence, written reports, and briefs.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in completing projects on teams comprised of participants with diverse engineering, scientific or technical backgrounds.
  • Academic or practical knowledge of data science, machine learning, or Big Data processing (Preferred).
  • Experience with Esri's GeoAnalytics Engine (Preferred).
  • Experience with the Angular Framework (Preferred).
  • DevExtreme FrontEnd widgets (Preferred).
  • Experience on a Department of Homeland Security project (Preferred).
  • Experience collaborating on deliverables with a remote team (Preferred).
