The Alternative Data group is currently seeking a Data Scientist Intern to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Data Science, the successful candidate will work alongside other Data Scientists in analyzing data and creating cutting edge financial data products that produce quantitatively measurable market insights. Note that investment domain experience is not required for this role; but would be a definitive plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Leverage Statistical modelling and machine learning (ML, AI, NLP) expertise to analyze a wide variety of data sources
- Create ML pipelines to perform imputation, debiasing, modeling, and prediction
- Perform quantitative analyses of new data products to assess their informational advantage in financial markets
- Build product collateral, such as web documentation, white papers, and presentations
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate is a current rising senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a demonstrated aptitude for machine learning. Experience in capital markets or the investment industry is a plus, but is not required.
- Demonstrated experience in exploratory data analysis and modeling of large datasets
- Proficient in Python and related ML packages (sklearn, etc)
- Experience in advanced statistical methods and time series modelling is strongly preferred
- Experience with Databricks, Spark, Redshift, AWS and other big data and cloud technologies
- Education or experience in the capital markets or investment industry is a plus
- Hardworking, intellectually curious, and able to excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a rising senior enrolled full time for the upcoming semester in an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related major and on-track to graduate
- 10 week commitment with availability to start in June

- Motivated self-starter who is results-driven
