Inventory Planner & Master Data Specialist (d/f/m)

We are looking for an Inventory Planner & Master Data Specialist (d/f/m) for our Hamburg office. The position is limited to two years.


The job is responsible for creating and maintaining global Master Data and for managing and running planned stock processes to ensure that stock is kept at an optimal level to achieve targets for Service Level and Working Capital.

Your Role

Inventory Planning: 

  • Calculate safety stock to mitigate the risk of stock outs or shortfalls due to uncertainties in supply and volatility in demand. 

  • Calculate/review the quantity of a product that should be manufactured in a single batch to minimize the total cost that includes setup costs for the machines and inventory holding costs, so called EPQ (Economical Production Quantity). 

  • Manage the routine for clearing products which are not moving to a) free up space in our warehouse and b) remove nonvalue adding “cash” from our Working Capital. 

  • Generate starting point for inventory target setting (safety stock + EPQ).  

  • Review inventory levels, identifying deviations, take part in RCA for service level failure (part that belongs to safety stock and/or EPQ). 

  • Identify possible gaps and escalate to the inventory category leads. 

Master Data: 

  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and cleansing global master data for a specific product type.  

  • Ensuring master data to be created in accordance with established blueprints and processes.  

  • Gather information required to accurately enter master data requests. 

  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of the master data through regular audits and data cleansing activities; review of data in detail and utilize mass uploads when needed. 

  • Support internal customers with master data issues or concerns; provide guidance on best practices for requesting master data adds or updates. 

  • Understand the entire procure to pay process to ensure data entered is valid and creates process efficiencies for Operations and Supply Chain.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field

  • Min. 3 years of experience in Supply Chain 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and data-driven decision-making approach - beside effective communication skills across all levels of the organization. Can adapt between detailed and global views. 

  • Excellent team player. 

  • Proficiency in English - additional language is a plus. 

  • SAP or equivalent experience is advantageous - Excel knowledge and Power Apps is a plus.
