What are we looking for?
In this opportunity, we are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to work with one of our US clients, a corporation that, through its subsidiaries, provides life insurance protection targeted to the middle American market. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of systems in their enterprise data and analytics environments. You will develop deep knowledge of our client's businesses as you help to optimize performance by building and supporting decision-making tools. You will partner closely with their software engineering, AI/ML, Cybersecurity, and DevOps/SysOps teams to deliver best-in-class data solutions that empower enterprise-wide reporting and analytics, including business-critical vendor relationships.

What's unique about this job?
As a member of the Data Engineering team, you will be building the data layer that serves as a foundation for our client's key operations. You will support critical end-to-end data pipelines written in Python or Scala which serve internal and external customers. Working within the Agile framework, you will have the opportunity to design data pipelines, build database models, design infrastructure and alerting frameworks, and process data using methods from SFTPs to APIs. Data and Analytics is a key enterprise strength of our client and we look forward to having you on the team!

Here are some of the exciting day-to-day challenges you will face in this role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data stores that support enterprise data science, analytics, and operations.
  • Identify, track, and analyze the performance of data layer services, implementing solutions and improvements to enhance stability, efficiency, and performance. 
  • Collaborate with your peers across the Research and Technology organization.

You will shine if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or demonstrated ability in a related field is required.
  • Experience working with data environments in an engineering or technical capacity
  • Experience working with data using structured (SQL) and/or unstructured (NoSQL) approaches.
  • Experience with or exposure to data visualization principles and practices, especially with PowerBI and Tableau
  • Ingest data from internal and external sources using cloud-native AWS platform technologies (e.g., S3, EMR (Spark), Lambda, Kinesis, Firehose, Glue, Terraform)
  • 1-5 years of experience working with data environments in an engineering or technical capacity 
  • Strong communication skills and an interest in advancing your knowledge of data engineering
  • Excellent time management skills  
  • Driven, self-motivated attitude. Ability to do great work independently with minimal direction. 
  • Ambitious and collaborative team player.
