Responsibilities
The Drug Surveillance and Diversion Analytics Specialist supports system-wide diversion management initiatives across the market hospitals. The Drug Surveillance and Diversion Analytics Specialist works with the pharmacy operations management teams to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures for inventory management and auditing of controlled substances utilization. This position helps identify areas of opportunity for improvement and standardization across all entities in the system. Designs and executes audits and proactive monitoring strategies to prevent the loss of controlled substances. Educates the pharmacy management team and other key stakeholders at the site level on regulatory requirements and best practices related to diversion prevention. Optimizes the use of reports and functionality of available technology to prevent and identify drug diversion.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
Required qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED required.2. Current state Pharmacy Technician License.3. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential required.4. At least 5 years of work experience in the hospital pharmacy setting required.5. At least 2 years of related work experience required in controlled substances handling processes and/or controlled substance analytics.6. Knowledge of controlled substances surveillance and management systems and techniques; federal and state regulatory compliance requirements; and auditing techniques7. Ability to analyze and report data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.8. Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).9. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail.
Preferred qualification:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred.2. Ability to navigate EMR (Epic and MEDITECH) and ADM (Pyxis) systems in acute care settings, as well as diversion prevention surveillance software (Protenus).3. Advanced certification in Controlled Substances Diversion Prevention preferred.
