Job Description

Reports to: Decision Support Manager
Work Model: Hybrid
Grade: N0:06
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: $66,924 to 83,655 annually (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Temporary Full-Time, 18 Months
Closing Date: December 6, 2024

Position Summary

The Decision Support Analyst will play a critical role in providing data-driven insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of data management, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable information.

Duties

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights; Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar; Provide regular and ad-hoc reports to support business decisions.
  • Business Intelligence: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide appropriate solutions; Use advanced analytical techniques to support business objectives, including predictive modeling, trend analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Decision Support: Assist in the development of strategic plans by providing relevant data and analysis; Evaluate the effectiveness of business strategies and initiatives through data analysis and reporting; Provide recommendations based on data analysis to improve business performance.
  • Data Management: Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data by implementing and maintaining data quality processes; Work with IT and other departments to integrate data from various sources into a central database.
  • Project Management: Lead or participate in data-related projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of project outcomes; Document and communicate project progress, challenges, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users on data tools and reporting systems; Develop user guides and documentation for data systems and tools.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Math, Statistics, or related field
  • Experience in a data analysis, business intelligence, or decision support role.
  • Experience in delivering presentations, training and/or end user support.
  • Excellent problem definition, problem resolution, business analysis, and systems analysis skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analytics, data visualization, and data reporting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent prioritization, organization skills and flexibility to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Well-developed facilitation, interviewing, conflict resolution, and consensus-building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and also as a contributing team member
  • Well-developed ability to evaluate situations and make judgement calls on timely issue escalation
  • Experience in healthcare, finance, or another data-intensive industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Excel.
  • Clinical training and experience with electronic patient record systems an asset
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, SQL, Python, R) is advantageous.
