Part-time Student Research Assistant in the Faculty of Education

Part-time Student Research Assistant in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 530508) (to commence as soon as possible for 6 months).

Applicants should be undergraduate students (Year 2 or above). They should have a good command of written and spoken English and an interest in data science, language science, natural language processing and/or education. Applicants who are capable in programming (e.g., Python) are preferred and other languages are favorable, but not essential.

The appointee will be invited to provide assistance in collecting and cleaning data from digitized text sources, collaborate with the team and write some ad-hoc code as needed to support the project. Data cleaning, manipulation, mining will be required. He/She will also receive training and guidance in completing NLP and analysis tasks as well as performing other duties as assigned.  Having research experience is an advantage but not required.

The appointment will be on an hourly-basis and appointee can work up to 20 hours per week. A minimum of 10 hours per week is expected unless special circumstances arise and approving by the Principal Investigator of the project.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
