The Gaming Insights, Growth & AI Product Insight’s team (GIGA PI) within the Xbox Planning & Insights (XPI) team is looking for a Senior Product Analyst, Decision Sciences Xbox  who is a passionate individual that knows how to leverage data, tell a story, and partner with teams across Xbox to deliver on world class experience.  You’ll play a key role in uncovering how Xbox gamers engage with our platform, products, and experiences.  You’ll lead efforts to discover new opportunities to drive gamer experiences.  You’ll have a critical role working with leadership teams within Xbox to understand how we are tracking our goals and identify new ways to measure how we are delivering on our mission. You’ll develop and hone your skill of becoming a trusted advisor to many teams.  You’ll further enhance problem solving and analytical skills when it comes to connecting technical teams with business outcomes of the experiences they are building.  You’ll further your craft in data story telling by working with & collaborating w/ world class UX designers.  If you have a passion for gaming, technology, leveraging big data, and a knack for data sciences and storytelling, this is the team for you.  Where else will you get to help gamers have more fun, find more friends to play with, and leverage your data skills?

Responsibilities

  • Proactively anticipate business needs and take the initiative to develop data frameworks and analytical solutions that align with both customer and business priorities. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the business landscape and act as a trusted advisor to customers and stakeholders, leveraging your knowledge of Microsoft products to build credibility and influence decision-making.You will apply expertise to data sources and determine optimal methods for integrating data. You’ll apply expertise to address business questions and guide teammates on solutions.

  • Drive the integration of data sources by independently determining the best methods for data integration and addressing key business challenges. Guide and mentor teammates by providing actionable solutions, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

  • Own the storytelling of insights, creating compelling narratives through dashboards, reports, and presentations. Influence cross-functional teams by advising on experimental design and advocating for innovative methods of sharing insights that lead to tangible business improvements.You will identify and promote methods that create efficiency in core work and recommend and socialize optimal methods for sharing and scaling insights. You’ll understand the relationship between analytical models, coach junior engineers as needed and present results to senior stakeholders.

  • Lead the alignment of cross-functional teams to ensure the adoption of recommended data sources and analysis practices. Actively drive change by advocating for data-driven decisions and maintaining expertise in privacy requirements, while proactively addressing the impact of updated guidance on work activities and outcomes.

  • Champion efficiency and continuous improvement by identifying and promoting best practices that streamline core work processes. Take the lead in recommending and socializing optimal methods for scaling and sharing insights, while also coaching junior engineers and presenting actionable results to senior stakeholders in a clear, impactful way.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis 
    • OR Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis 
    • OR equivalent experience  
  • 4+ years of experience in at least one of programming languages like Python/R/SQL.  
  • 4+ years of experience with data analytics tools like R, Python, Excel, Tableau, SAS, Power BI.  
  • 2+ years of experience in navigating complex datasets to come up with clean and actionable insights.   

Additional or Preferred Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR equivalent experience .
  • 2+ years of experience in user experience analytics and/or app engagement analytics.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Experience within the gaming industry, such as working at a gaming studio/developer/publisher.

Data Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.
