We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Data Engineer – Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our Data Engineering team! This is an opportunity to play a key technical lead role in building a next-generation Unified Data Platform (UDP) hosted on Google Cloud. This is a fantastic opportunity to guide the design, development, and deployment of scalable data solutions while upskilling a talented team of Data Engineers in the latest cloud technologies and best practices.

In this role, you’ll provide technical direction, leadership, and hands-on expertise to ensure our cloud-based data solutions meet the highest standards. You'll also help cultivate a culture of continuous learning, empowering your team to grow their skills and deliver cutting-edge solutions.
 

Key Responsibilities for the Principal Data Engineer – GCP role include:

• Guide and mentor a team of Data Engineers, providing hands-on technical support and direction.
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable data pipelines and cloud-based services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Stay up-to-date with the latest GCP features, services, and industry trends, and be a strong advocate for the use of Google Cloud services within the organization.
• Promote and implement best practices in cloud architecture, data engineering, DevOps, and cloud security.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, ensuring your team remains at the front of technological advancements.
• Ensure that cloud security best practices are followed to protect data and infrastructure.

What You Bring to This Role
We are looking for a skilled GCP Principal Data Engineer/Technical Lead with a strong track record of cloud-based project leadership, particularly in Google Cloud. To succeed in this role, you will:

• Have experience leading cloud-based projects and mentoring teams of Data Engineers.
• Demonstrate extensive hands-on experience with key GCP services such as Composer, Dataflow, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
• Be proficient in programming languages such as Python or Java (particularly Java).
• Have a strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, microservices, and serverless computing.
• Experience with IaC tools, particularly Terraform, to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure.
• Have a deep understanding of data platforms, data warehousing applications, and the implementation of data solutions in the cloud.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor, inspire, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
