We seek a Senior Data Scientist focused on diffraction and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) data analysis. You’ll leverage Python to develop algorithms and analyze complex scattering data, contributing to material characterization advancements.

Responsibilities:

  • Diffraction and SAXS Data Analysis: Interpret data to extract insights on material properties like structure and morphology
  • Algorithm Prototyping in Python: Develop, test, and optimize algorithms for SAXS data processing
  • Advanced Statistical Modeling: Use statistical and machine learning techniques for signal extraction and pattern recognition
  • Data Processing Optimization: Improve processes for noise reduction and peak detection.
  • Simulation and Predictive Modeling: Create models to simulate scattering data and predict material behaviors
  • Trend Analysis: Identify patterns in data to inform material properties and experimental design.
  • Results Documentation: Present findings and recommendations clearly to guide material characterization

Requirements:

  • Degree in physics, chemistry, material science, statistics, or related field
  • Experience in data analysis and algorithm for diffraction and scattering techniques, including SAXS
  • Python Prototyping: Advanced Python skills for algorithm development
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Solution-oriented approach to diffraction and SAXS data
  • Data Libraries: Familiarity with NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas for data handling
  • Machine Learning and AI for pattern recognition and predictive modeling
  • Material Science Knowledge (beneficial): Understanding of structural properties influencing diffraction
  • Strong Communication: Ability to present complex findings clearly
  • Self-driven with a focus on project execution

This position is subject to the collective agreement governing employees in the metal sector. Your actual salary depends on your experience and qualifications. For the vacant position it will usually be set within the following range (gross per month, excluding overtime): €4.500,00 to €6.000,00.
