THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Associate performs multiple research projects currently funded by the National Institutes of Health and other funding sources within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Translational Science of the UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. This position contributes to innovative health services research designed to improve health outcomes and policy related to medication utilization, Medicare Parts C/D Star Ratings, medication therapy management services, economic efficiency, racial/ethnic disparities, and other topics. This position manages complex research activities to achieve research objectives, including background research, quantitative and qualitative research to support research goals, updating study websites, drafting written deliverables, such as conference abstract submissions, publications and reports, and making oral presentations to various stakeholders including conference presentations, and others.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares reports, manuscripts, and presentations for conferences, peer-reviewed journals, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinates and collaborates with cross-functional teams including clinicians, public health professionals, and policy experts.
- Assists in the development of study protocols, research design, and methodologies for both qualitative and quantitative studies.
- Collects, cleans, and manages data from various sources such as focus groups, surveys, administrative databases, and electronic health records.
- Conducts statistical analyses using software such as SAS, STATA, or Python to assess health outcomes and policy impact.
- Analyzes data with machine learning algorithms such as decision trees, clustering, and neural networks.
- Conducts comprehensive literature reviews to identify existing research, gaps in the literature, and emerging trends in health outcomes, healthcare policy, and related fields.
- Summarizes and presents key findings from literature reviews for inclusion in grant applications, research publications, and conference presentations.
- Stay up to date with the latest research methodologies, statistical techniques, and trends in health policy by attending workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- Mentors and supervises students or junior staff involved in research projects.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy, Health Services Research, Economics, Epidemiology, or a closely related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of related research experience. Must have completed three (3) years as a Post Doctoral Scholar.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in data management and data analysis using software such as Python, SAS and Stata, or similar.
- Familiarity with healthcare databases (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid claims data, hospital administrative data) is highly desirable.
- Strong experience in conducting literature reviews and synthesizing complex information from academic sources.
- Strong writing and communication skills for manuscript preparation and reporting research findings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Good work ethics
- Ability to work with a computer.
