Department Overview

Resource Development Engineering is a team that specializes in system design and coverage tools development. We create innovative solutions to enable engineers to design and deliver radio systems. Through collaborative efforts and continuous improvement, we deliver tools on a cloud based platform to align with strategic objectives of Motorola Solutions.


Job Description

Overview:

In this role, you will be a model developer for the Coverage Tools team within RDE. You will be responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software to develop new features and enhancements for our cloud products. You will conduct research into new algorithms for coverage models. This will require collaboration with RF engineers to validate and make adjustments to model code to meet expectations. You will need to work with user interface developers on the interface between the front-end and back-end software. You may also work with data science and AI developers on certain tools and development projects.  Overall this job provides growth opportunities and room to explore various aspects of RF system development and behavior with a group of people that are considered as experts in the company on the science behind RF.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.

  • Collaborate with internal teams supporting projects, RF engineers, system test engineers, and other developers on the team.

  • Apply research techniques and methodologies to solve technical problems.

  • Work within the Kanban process we use for agile development to deliver features and fixes, and perform research.

  • Serve as a technical resource for long-range planning

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in software development, troubleshooting, and debugging

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, C++, and python

  • Experience with development tools such as Visual Studio, and Visual Studio Code

  • Strong knowledge of compilers, performance analysis tools, databases, and xml

  • Experience with cloud-based tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with RF / Radio communications

  • Discrete event simulation development which may include finite state machines

  • Statistical methods and results interpretations

  • Knowledge of AI development tools and concepts

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment

  • Familiarity with Agile Kanban development methodologies is a plus

Ability to work remotely from your home with a good and secure internet connection is required.

Travel : limited - occasional training/group meetings.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline) and 4+ years of engineering or technical experience.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
