Job Description

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science seeks a dynamic colleague committed to fostering teaching excellence and student development in a program that values creativity, collaboration, learner-centered pedagogy, and sense of belonging. The new faculty member will join a collaborative group of 27 mathematics, statistics, and data science faculty who serve the entire university community.

We seek applications for a full-time, Assistant Professional Professor position to begin in Fall 2025. Although this is a non-tenure track position, progression in rank associate professional professor to and senior professional professor position is possible. We are particularly interested in a colleague who has a strong interest in teaching mathematics content courses for preservice teachers, as well as teaching other introductory undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach multiple courses in undergraduate mathematics education, general mathematics, and statistics as well as participate in the ongoing development of such courses and take a leadership role in common assessment efforts. The workload is 30 hours of teaching (typically, five three-hour courses per semester), and service activities over 9 months. No expectation for research is required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, or closely related fields.

  • At least three (3) years of experience as an Assistant Professor (tenure track or visiting) or Instructor at the university level.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics, mathematics education, and/or statistics courses.

  • Experience in teaching underprivileged and varied populations.

  • Breadth and depth of mathematical knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exhibited dedication and expertise in teaching mathematics classes for a variety of majors, including STEM and preservice teachers.

  • Demonstrated commitment and preparation for excellence in teaching higher-level courses for mathematics and mathematics education students.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in performing service.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
