About this role:

As a VC A&I Data Engineer you will be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining data architecture/models for Analytics & Insights within Variable Compensation. The role is primarily focused on ensuring that data is organized, accessible, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

What you’ll do: 

  • Interprets and delivers impactful strategic plans to improve data integration, data quality, and data delivery in support of A&I initiatives and roadmaps
  • Create entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), data flow diagrams, and other visualization tools to represent data flows
  • Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions
  • Designs the structure and layout of data stores in the Reporting schema within VC Datamart, partnering with the VC systems team
  • Continually optimizes data storage as well as supports data access controls and security measures
  • Incorporate core data management competencies, including data governance, data security and data quality
  • Designs and implements processes for the ETL process from various sources into the necessary data systems
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and other documentation related to data architecture and modeling
  • Evaluate existing data models and identify areas for improvement or optimization.
  • Partner with A&I Manager to define and manage standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality
  • Works with IT teams, A&I analysts, and VC Systems to understand data consumers’ needs and develop solutions
  • Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics
  • Perform data and security audits to ensure processes allow for consistent and accurate reporting

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree with a concentration in statistics, data science, mathematics, engineering, or computer science preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in design and implementation of data architecture initiatives
  • Strong proficiency in M, SQL, DAX and Excel
  • Experience with other programming languages preferred (Python, etc)
  • Strong understanding of Data Warehousing, Data Quality, Data Analytics and Data Visualization concepts/tools
  • Ability to understand and articulate data needs while working with appropriate teams to create accurate and efficient data stores and calculations
  • Ability to guide solution design and architecture, quickly master new and complex content to meet business needs
  • Ability to work with large quantities of detailed data from multiple sources
  • Strong initiative and willingness to take on projects in proactive manner
  • Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment
  • Interest in constant performance improvement and comfort with change
  • Excellent organization, prioritization & time management skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
  • Familiarity with data governance and data management principles

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 96,750 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
