Data Engineer (Soccer Operations)

Description

Inter Miami CF is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support soccer operations by developing and maintaining ETL processes and ensuring data integrity. As part of the Analytics team, you will interface with departments such as coaching, scouting, and sports performance to fulfill diverse data needs, helping to drive data-driven decision-making across the club.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize ETL pipelines to ingest data from multiple sources (including third-party APIs and both structured and unstructured internal data) to support various end users across departments.
• Regularly monitor and improve data quality, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all data inputs and outputs.
• Provide deep knowledge in data storage structures, data cleaning, and transformation to enhance the quality of analytics output.
• Follow software engineering best practices, contribute to shared codebases, and collaborate on continuous improvement of data-related solutions and processes.
• All other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field preferred, or demonstrated experience.
• Minimum 2+ years of sports analytics experience in professional or collegiate sports (or related industry) is preferred.
• Proficient in python.
• Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.
• Ideate, develop and improve machine learning and statistical models.
• Prior experience working in a sports environment, ideally with a focus on soccer.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines.
• Experience developing and maintaining REST APIs.
• Familiarity with AWS ecosystem (S3, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk) or similar cloud services.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, within a team atmosphere.
