Senior Data Engineer

Zurich North America is currently hiring a Senior Data Engineer and this person will work in a hybrid schedule at our Schaumburg North America HQ.  This person will report to an AVP – Data Warehouse Engineer with the Chief Data Office.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics and 6 or more years of experience in the Data Engineering area AND
• 5 or more of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering
• Experience in scripting languages
• Experience with data transformation and aggregation tools
• Experience in data analysis, data interrogation or data profiling
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of MS Azure Fundamentals
• Conceptual understanding of Azure AI and ML
• Strong understanding of Azure analytics, compute and   data bases ( SQL DB, Databricks, ADF, ADX, Synapse, Data Lake, AKS, SnowFlake, Yellowbricks etc.)
• Strong understanding of Python, PySpark
• Expert understanding of SQL
• Expert understanding of ETL tools such as Informatica
• Background developing a technology roadmap/strategic thinking
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Background working in agile methodology
• Ability to explain technology concepts to business stakeholders
• Background with stakeholder management
• Azure Fundamentals Certificate
• Disciplined Agile Scrum/Kanban practitioner
