The Applied Sciences Group (ASG) is looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Product Manager that enjoys building products and experiences that showcase the state of the art of AI, software, and user experience. Projects you will take on may span from technical programs like our current focus, shipping foundational elements at the heart of Windows Copilot AI+ experiences (where the interface to our work is an API), to designing next-generation user experiences like Microsoft Journal or novel device form factors. This is a rare opportunity to practice product management across the full stack, from driving low level software components to designing user experiences.

This is a remote work role. Your direct team consists of people working remotely in Canada and we work and collaborate intensively with people in Redmond and Europe.

ASG is a unique group to Microsoft and even the industry. We have amazing latitude for impact and scope of creativity and opportunity. We invent but also ship. We are passionate about creating the future, inventing something that has not been done, and then turning around and getting it into the hands of millions of people. It’s a mash up of Microsoft Research and an effective engineering team. All in the name of doing what’s right, unimagined, and next, with a balance not too close but not too far in the future either. As we help guide Windows and Devices towards an Agentic world, we want to contextualize people’s experiences. We want to move people’s compute experiences “off the desk” into the real world, and not only contextualize and ground in what they do with computers but also in the physical world. If you are passionate about our mission in ASG and want to work on a team that offers growth opportunities, dedicated to a culture of inclusion, growth mindset and collaboration, we need you!

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond

Responsibilities

  • Work with our internal clients and partners to define scenarios that our team can enable with the technology we build.
  • Embrace and continuously learn the mechanisms and unique opportunities and challenges of working with AI, applying this knowledge to the products you ship and in collaborations with clients and partners.
  • Envision and design novel experiences that explore the future of AI first computing and tell the story using visual media (like wireframes).
  • Create concise specs that are grounded in technical feasibility, client requirements, and user delight.
  • Work with engineering and ML research teams to deliver high-quality, user-centered products that are aligned with client expectations.
  • Guide partners towards designing optimal experiences based on the strengths and constraints of the technologies underlying our products.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, etc. and sample applications in C#, C++, and/or Python to demonstrate best practices for integrating and using our products.
  • Evangelize projects with our partners and through the organization and create assets to showcase our work including whitepapers, videos, slide decks.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years experience in Software Development
  • 1+ years shipping/managing products with UI/UX in your scope.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven product or program management experience leading products from ideation through to general availability.
  • A mindset grounded in curiosity, creativity, user empathy, and a bias for action.
