L/S Investment Data Analyst

Who You'll Work With

The data analyst will report to the Arya Head of Fundamental Equity Portfolio Management and work alongside our investors, risk team, and established team of technical professionals across AllianceBernsntein. The role will focus on building out Arya Partners Fund’s data analysis platform. The analyst will help transform and improve the investment process for the firm at the ground level, working to create proprietary data tools as well as to integrate existing third-party data into the platform, for the purposes of streamlining the investment process. They will lead this effort and will eventually be responsible for helping to grow the team. The position presents a dynamic, multi-tasking environment with broad interaction across Arya Partners Fund and AllianceBernstein.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop data platform
• Design and build Arya’s data platform
• Develop front-end tools and infrastructure to increase investor stock-picking efficiency
• Build a consolidated data repository and knowledge base
• Develop systems for downloading data from various internal and external sources
• Develop robust quality control processing, monitoring and workflow tools
• Create proprietary data tools for our investors
• Evaluate and integrate third party data
• Troubleshoot day-to-day issues

What We're Looking For

The right candidate will be a confident problem solver who takes pride in developing creative solutions to technical problems.

• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical members of the organization
• Ability to manipulate different data sets
• Experience with webscraping
• 3+ years’ experience in coding in Excel
• 3+ years’ experience in application development using Python/R
• 2+ years’ experience in experience with equity financial data.
• 2+ years of SQL development preferred
• A degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
• Experience with financial alternative data sets preferred
• Experience with hedge fund data analysis preferred
• Familiarity with machine learning tools preferred

In accordance with Section 8-107(32) as set forth in the New York City Human Rights Law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:

Base Salary Range: $150,000 to $250,000

Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards.
