DuPont Electronics & Industrial business has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Data Engineering in DuPont’s Electronic Materials Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Technology group.  We are the global leader in making various consumables used to polish semiconductor wafers, which then becomes logics and memories in electronic devices, such as smart phones, computers, data center, etc.  

This role specifically resides within the data science group of Advanced Characterization and Fundamentals team in CMPT R&D.  The data group focuses on designing, developing and implementing digital products and tools that are essential for making R&D lab data readily available, extracting insights from data, and making data-based decisions to accelerate new product development and support customers. The major customers are scientists and engineers within R&D and beyond R&D, such as field service, marketing and product quality. The group is the catalyst to drive the digital transform of CMP and using digital tools to help DuPont CMP stay cutting edge and competitive in the global market.  

The ideal candidate will be highly versatile in skills blending a data engineer and data analyst roles, open minded to learn and adapt to new data technologies and characterization techniques relevant to digital product. The candidate is expected to run and maintain the existing digital products, understand the data pipeline, and provide application support properly. The candidate will also work on improvements of these products with sufficient guidance from experts in the company and participate in the new product development mentored by seniors, starting from building visualization reports to track key metrics and indexes and automate the process. The candidate will be part of the DuPont’s internal data science community, and work closely with leveraged IT functions within DuPont, and external consultant where necessary to satisfy customer needs.  

The role provides hybrid (onsite and remote) work environment (at least 60% onsite) and the primary site is the experimental station at Newark, DE.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide application and deployment support for customized built data systems, such as adding users, features, materials, and continuously improving the application by integrating user feedback, to provide scientists and engineers with the metrics and analysis they need to make strategic and tactical decisions in a timely manner.  

  • Build dashboards/web application to visualize critical metrics and product data, automate data reporting and sharing 

  • Facilitate in IT needs for R&D labs, as the bridge between corporate IT and scientists 

  • Develop algorithms to analyze various analytical data (such as material mechanical data, process parameters, image, spectroscopy), visualize them and deploy the method to users, through interactive user interfaces effectively and securely 

  • Code review as part of development and product lifecycle 

  • Technical writing and verbal communications  

Required Qualifications 

  • BS Degree in applied mathematics, computer science, information science and technology, Electrical Engineering or related field, or Associate Degree in the relevant field with >1 year of relevant industrial work experience in an informatics related role.  

  • Basic python programming, SQL, and data visualization (PowerBI or tableau) skills.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A double major or minor in STEM, such as physics, engineering, chemistry, etc.  

  • >2 year of relevant work experience in an informatics related role post-graduation 

  • Ability to learn independently, such as researching vendor or package documentation 

  • Experience in Project management, such as stakeholder management, write project charters, etc. 

  • Experience working with a global team 

  • Automation using Microsoft tools, such as Power App and Power Automate 

  • Has managed servers or virtual machines, such as working with virtual machine remotely, troubleshoot for IT issues involving firewalls, user permission management.  

  • Basic knowledge using Matlab for scientific computing and visualization. 

  • Experience in Git for collaborating on code development and issue tracking. 

  • Experience in one web development tool or language, such as python-based web framework dashboards, KNIME, JavaScript, Php, ASP.NET at least to debug & improve existing web service 

  • Build descriptive, predictive and prescriptive models using Big Data, statistics, machine learning across various themes 

  • C# and REST API familiarity to maintain and deploy existing application 

  • Experience in Apache Xampp & Microsoft IIS server environments 

  • Experience using Microsoft Azure service platforms (e.g. Databricks, MLflow, etc) 

  • Experience using CI/CD for automated deployment pipeline of applications 

  • Familiar with terminals and scripting using bash
