The Data Governance Analyst supports implementing and maintaining the Firm’s Data Governance Framework, including reference lists and documentation. This role works closely with the Data Steward community.
The Data Governance Framework, led by the Practice Solutions Function, oversees the firm's data governance and management across functions. It uses data management technology to improve data quality and value, supporting business intelligence analysis.
The Framework, consisting of a C-Suite Steering Committee, a Director-level Data Governors Board, and a Data Stewardship Council, aims to improve data quality and accessibility to drive competitive advantage. It is supported by Technology, Information Governance, Data Governance, and Data Privacy Office (DPO) teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising with Data Stewards to understand data needs and participating in Data Stewardship Council meetings
- Supporting metadata import and curation for Data Management Technology (DMT) to address business issues
- Analysing business processes to identify data management and DMT analytics improvement opportunities
- Developing user stories, use cases, and functional requirements for data capture, processing, and analysis, while managing the issues backlog
- Conducting gap analysis to identify deficiencies in existing data management systems
- Participating in user acceptance testing to ensure DMT meets business needs
- Creating comprehensive documentation for the data catalogue, including data definitions, sources, transformation rules, and usage guidelines
- Assisting in designing and building data catalogue content, metadata models, and workflows
- Ensuring key Data Governance documents (Business Glossary, Master Data List, Reference Data List, Issues Log, Lineage, Business Process Maps) are migrated to and effectively used in the DMT
- Developing and maintaining business process and lineage areas in the DMT and supporting their use by Data Governance Framework group members
- Participating in developing and delivering DMT and Data Steward training, and updating training materials
- Automating reference list workflows by ingesting and configuring them in the DMT
- Supporting the development of a central reference list repository and adopting external and industry data standards (e.g., SALI or NosLegal)
- Contributing to the firm-wide Umbrella Data Strategy by participating in initiatives and projects that resolve issues and empower Data Stewards
Qualification and skills
- Bachelors or Masters degree
- Experience in Business Analysis or Data Analysis
- Desire to develop a career in Data Governance and shape the firm's evolving capability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of data management, governance, and analytics best practices (or willingness to learn)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to bridge business services and technology
- Proactive self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and capable of business report writing, including communication, user stories, use cases, and functional requirements

Location and Reporting
This role is based in our London office, and reports into the Data Governance Senior Manager.
Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
