Qualifications

DATA 315 Database Programming

Undergraduate Spring Semester, 02/03/2025 – 05/25/2025,

TTH 3:20PM-4:35PM Moraga Campus

This course prepares students to effectively manage data through a relational database management system (RDBMS), a query language and relevant tools. Fundamental database theories are introduced but the emphasis is on practical and hands-on learning experience. Various topics are covered including data modeling, database development life cycle, entity-relationship (ER) modeling and database design, relational models, normalization, structured query language (SQL), SQL queries, functions as well as advanced topics such as indexes and query performance, advanced queries and Python programming with databases. MySQL, the industry leading open-source RDBMS and the graphical user interface (GUI) and development tool MySQL Workbench are practically introduced and used.

Qualifications

- Ph.D. degree in Business Analytics or a closely related field and a recent publication record in the field, OR

- A Master’s degree in Business Analytics or a closely related field and five years of current, relevant professional experience.

- Candidates should have a successful record of teaching experience at the undergraduate level and experience/familiarity with online/hybrid instruction to prepare for contingencies. This position requires all course work to be performed in the state of California. 

Salary: $6,480 and $10,308 dependent on qualifications.  The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, who have previously taught the course or DATA 138, available here.

Salary: $6,480 and $10,308 dependent on qualifications.  The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.

Please note that courses will be assigned to current qualified adjunct faculty members who apply during the first 14 days of the posting in the following order:

1. Seniority of those who have taught the course previously up to their average.

2. Seniority of those who have not taught the course up to their average.

3. Seniority rotation above their average up to seven (7) course values.

 If the course is not assigned to a current qualified adjunct faculty member under the process above, it may be assigned to a new hire after the 14 day period for current adjunct faculty members to apply has elapsed.
