Employment Dates: December 16, 2024 - December 15, 2025

Schedule: Full-Time / Hybrid

 

The school of Global Public Health (GPH) and the Biostatistical Consultation and Collaboration Core (BC3) is recruiting a Masters-level Collaborative Statistician. The position is full time (40 hours/week) and in-person at least 3 days a week.

 

Collaborative Statisticians will provide statistical support on one or several collaborative projects within GPH and other NYU schools. This position consists of assisting with statistical consulting, designing and carrying out statistical analysis plans, and communicating results clearly in write-ups and data visualizations. In addition to regular meetings with the investigators, Collaborative Statisticians will be expected to contribute to weekly team meetings to provide updates and to give feedback to other statisticians on the team.   • Collaborate with investigators on study design and analysis plans.
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings to provide updates and to give feedback to the rest of the team. These will weekly, and will be in person.
  • Attend and participate in project assessment meetings and statistical consults, where investigators from across NYU and beyond present their projects and receive statistical advice.
  • Work with investigators to develop study designs and analysis plans.
  • Implement analyses in Stata, R, or Python.
  • Produce clear write-ups of statistical methods and results. This may include creating clear and compelling data visualizations as well.
  • Statisticians will be expected to learn on the job as the project demands.

Qualifications

  • Eligible candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in a range of statistical methods, such as those used to analyze clinical trials, longitudinal or multivariate data, survey responses, etc. Candidates are not expected to know everything already, but they will be expected to be able to learn new skills quickly on the job.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as the position involves independent communication and collaboration with physicians and scientists, typically leading to publications in medical and scientific journals.
  • Candidates must be able to perform statistical analyses using a statistical software such as R, Stata or Python.
  • Ideal candidates will be passionate about open science, reproducibility, and scientific ethics.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $59,000 - $76,000.
