Senior Data Engineer - ZMS (all genders)

The Data Engineer role provides data-driven value to our brand partners by developing and further enhancing our self-service web interfaces. This position offers the opportunity to be part of the forefront team to shape a new business venture and to personally grow with it.

You will choose emerging technologies and approaches to create high-performance data processing solutions that scale. You will challenge our status quo and help us define best practices for how we work by designing data-intensive applications. Our data teams aim to solve the specific problems of a very

data driven company that has already begun the journey to become a platform.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• You own the development and operationalization of solutions deployed in production.

• You work across multiple team initiatives connecting Zalando data with partners.

• You are able to analyse data and build data models to support partner reporting needs at scale. 

• You help the team grow and cultivate best practices in software development,data engineering, and experimentation.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, including data analysis , data modelling, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational excellence.

• Solid experience of design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing data engineering systems. 

• Technologies wide, you have advanced skills in Python and detailed data analysis knowledge via SQL or similar. Ideally experienced in BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Airflow and GIT

• Big Data aficionado, you have experienced in creating and maintaining complex data models including ETLs and data warehouse architecture

• Self-motivator, comfortable working with colleagues from within the team and across the department.
