Job Overview:

The Data Governance Leader will lead the implementation and execution of the company’s Data Governance program, ensuring policies and processes are adhered to, data assets are well-managed, and data quality is optimized across the organization. This role involves collaborating with key stakeholders, managing data stewards, enforcing data governance policies, and ensuring continuous training and support for data governance initiatives.  This role is pivotal for ensuring the success of the company’s data governance program by establishing trust in data and fostering a culture of data stewardship and compliance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation:
    Lead the design, development, and rollout of the company’s data governance strategy across business units and IT teams.
  • Policy Enforcement:
    Ensure that data governance policies and standards are properly enforced throughout the data management lifecycle and across the organization.
  • Data Stewardship Coordination:
    Work closely with data stewards in each department to ensure consistent data definitions, standards, and governance processes are followed.
  • Training and Support:
    Provide ongoing training to business users and data professionals on data governance best practices, tools, and compliance requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    Build strong relationships with internal business units, legal, compliance, and IT teams to align data governance initiatives with business objectives.
  • Technology Liaison:
    Work with IT and software vendors to ensure data governance tools are optimized for tracking, monitoring, and managing data quality, metadata, and compliance.
  • Metrics and Reporting:
    Develop and track KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and ensure continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., BigID, Securiti.ai, Informatica).
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to influence across different levels of the organization.
