This role will focus on building, deploying, and optimizing AI/ML models that transform how data is used to drive operational insights, automation, and efficiencies in mission-critical environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading projects in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, working alongside researchers from Bell Labs to bridge advanced AI techniques with real-world mining, energy, and oil & gas applications.


AI/ML Solution Development: Design, build, and deploy machine learning models and AI-driven solutions for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, real-time data analytics, and other mission-critical use cases within mining and energy applications.

  • Data Pipeline & Model Optimization: Develop and manage data pipelines to support model training and deployment. Optimize models for performance and scalability in rugged, data-intensive environments.
  • Algorithm Development & Feature Engineering: Perform feature engineering and data preprocessing for model robustness and accuracy. Research and implement advanced algorithms that bring new value to mining operations.
  • Collaboration with Nokia Bell Labs: Work closely with Bell Labs researchers, embracing hands-on collaboration to explore and integrate cutting-edge AI/ML innovations into practical applications. Adapt research outputs into actionable solutions that leverage agile methodologies.
  • Deployment & Integration with Edge Devices: Design and deploy AI/ML models on edge devices in distributed network environments, ensuring models are optimized for low latency and high reliability in remote, industrial settings.

Model Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Implement monitoring strategies for deployed models to track performance, identify drift, and ensure continuous model accuracy and relevance in mission-critical applications.

Technical Requirements:

  • AI/ML & Data Science Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, deep learning, and data science. Expertise in supervised and unsupervised learning, time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and reinforcement learning is highly desirable.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and Pandas. Familiarity with C++ or Java is a plus for integration with other system components.
  • Data Engineering & Pipeline Management: Experience with data pipeline development and management tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, or similar. Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Cloud & Edge Deployment: Knowledge of deploying AI/ML models in cloud and edge environments, with experience in frameworks like TensorFlow Lite, ONNX, or similar for edge inference. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is beneficial.
  • Version Control & MLOps: Experience with MLOps practices and tools for version control, CI/CD, and model lifecycle management. Familiarity with platforms like MLflow, Kubeflow, or Docker for reproducibility and scalability.
  • Agile & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Comfortable working within Scrum or agile methodologies. Strong team player with experience in fast-paced, iterative development environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field. A Master’s degree or PhD is a plus.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Portuguese and English is required; Spanish is a plus.
  • Industry Background: Experience in the mining, energy, or oil & gas sectors, with familiarity in applying AI/ML for mission-critical operations is advantageous.
