We’re responsible for CommBank’s key analytics capabilities and work to create world-leading capabilities for analytics, information management and decisioning. We work across the Group Data Warehouse, Teradata/mainframe, Big Data Platform, Pega Decisioning, SAS, R, Tableau, Oracle BI, Ab Initio and Data Stage.

This role would be ideal for an experienced Senior Engineer with a strong background in building ETL applications, with commendable production support experience in deploying and managing large-scale, complex big data applications on a Cloudera Hadoop platform.

Reporting into the Operations Manager for Data Operations, in the Chief Data Office, you will interact with a range of internal teams and stakeholders including but not limited to Program Managers, Data Architects, Lead Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Hadoop Administrators, Systems Engineers, Squad Leads, Staff Engineers and Change Owners.

What skills you will possess?

• Strong experience in ETL tools suite, scripting in Python, Bash & PowerShell, along with commendable skills in production support would be mandatory.
• Demonstrated expertise in build, deploy, release management and containerisation of applications on a Cloudera Hadoop or other similar big data platforms would be highly essential.
• Extensive experience with platform management, operational or production support for complex big data platforms would be highly critical.
• Commendable skills in Linux/ Unix, and exposure to automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible would be essential.
• Ab Initio experience would be ideal but not mandatory!
• A passion to learn new skills along with a positive ‘Can-do’ attitude would be always desirable.
• Ability to effectively communicate with business stakeholders and technical leadership groups would be highly required.
