Valuation Assistant [Fixed Term Role Jan 25- April 25]- Main Sequence

Main Sequence was created by CSIRO to address the ‘valley of death’ between research and commercialisation. It solves the world’s greatest challenges by turning Australian scientific breakthroughs into the next century’s giants.

The valuation assistant role is a unique opportunity for anyone to work part-time or full-time on valuation memos with the investment, legal, and finance teams at Main Sequence.
We don’t require you to have prior VC experience, but we are certainly looking for someone who recognises this exciting opportunity and is interested in gaining experience in the startup and VC industry. Our game is all about attitude, knowledge, and competence. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and collate information (from internal and external systems) related to the valuation of portfolio company investments, then document it into Word valuation memos. 
• Work with the investment, legal and finance teams to obtain the necessary information to complete valuation memos.

Qualifications:

• Studying for a  bachelor's or master's degree, ideally in a business-related degree (e.g., finance, accounting, etc.)
• An interest in learning about investment valuations of early-stage startups; interest in deep tech businesses preferred.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders and teams. 
• Ability to manage time and deliver within required timeframes.
• Ability to navigate systems (e.g. Google Suite Pages and Sheets, Pitchbook, Word and Excel ) and utilise AI models (e.g. Chat GPT or Gemini)
• Ability to work independently

Other requirements:

• Candidate should have legal rights to work in Australia.
• Role is based in Sydney, and should be willing to work from the MSV Eveleigh office at least two days a week [Monday and Tuesday]
• Ability to work at least 3 days a week if the role is part-time.
