Summary

The Data & Analytics – Senior Staff Engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering, developing, and managing the systems and technologies that underpin our data initiatives. This position collaborates across the organization to design and implement a cutting-edge data and analytics infrastructure, providing the foundation for data-driven decision-making. By enabling leaders to track progress toward key metrics and gain actionable insights, this role is critical to driving business performance.

As a highly technical engineering resource, the Staff Engineer will lead and mentor a small team of data and analytics engineers while executing complex, high-impact projects. The role requires a deep understanding of the data that fuels various business units and involves creating efficient data models and scalable infrastructure. Working closely with Senior Leadership, IT, and digital product leaders, the Staff Engineer ensures the seamless alignment of eloquent technical solutions with business objectives.
 

Responsibilities

Design, Development and Execution:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines, architectures, and systems to support organizational data initiatives.
  • Build and optimize robust data models that align with business requirements, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Oversee the selection and integration of data technologies and tools to meet current and future organizational needs.
  • Execute complex, high-impact data initiatives from conception to completion, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Lead the development of a world-class data and analytics infrastructure to support data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • Ensure the infrastructure provides actionable insights to help leaders track metrics, identify trends, and accelerate performance.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders and continuously evaluate the performance of data systems and processes.


Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members to ensure best practices in data engineering and analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics, or related fields.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and managing data pipelines, architectures, and analytical data models.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), data warehouses (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake) and data modeling tools (dbt, SQL, Python)
  • Experience with ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, Stitch, etc) as a means of moving data from source to data lake 
  • Expert level of proficiency with DBT.  Understands how to design data flows from source to analytics as well as effective CI/CD principals.
  • Experience with python for API development and other data manipulation use cases.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Has a deep understanding of optimal data structure and transformation techniques and their applicability to business problems.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other large enterprise grade ERP systems is a plus

Compensation Range: $140,000.00 - $210,000.00, plus bonus.
