Nemours is seeking a Director, Health Equity Data Science and Analytics. 

Primary Functions: 

Reporting to the Vice President, Chief Health Equity Officer, the Director of Health Equity Data Science and Analytics will lead Health Equity data analytics and data science to understand, track, report, and address health disparities across patient populations. This leader will drive data-informed strategies to promote health equity and advance population health, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement evidence-based interventions and measure their impact. The role will lead a critical function that supports improving care through tracking and promoting equitable healthcare for every Nemours patient. Serving as a member of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Alignment (IDEA) leadership team, this individual will provide leadership on research and evaluation design, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. 

This individual will lead the development, dissemination, analysis and reporting of healthcare disparities dashboards throughout the Enterprise.  The Director also leads and mentors the Health Equity Data Science and Analytics team by supporting development and adherence to analysis and reporting best practices. Assuring consistent delivery of data and analysis for health equity related initiatives, the Director, Health Equity Data Science and Analytics also supports health equity evaluation efforts to achieve a high level of rigor and quality.

Successful candidates for this Director role must have expertise in data analysis, data management, and program evaluation methodology. The ideal Director will also excel at coordination and collaboration including managing and advancing health equity initiatives within a complexed, matrixed, multi-state organization. This includes understanding processes across clinical and business areas, proactively driving results through effective leadership, and garnering collaborative support for health equity transformation across the enterprise.

Essential Functions:

  1. Lead through influence, committee, and consultation to develop and execute a comprehensive health equity data strategy, aligning with organizational goals and public health priorities
  2. Collaborate with clinical, research, and community outreach teams to translate data insights into actionable strategies for improving health outcomes in underserved populations
  3. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards in all data collection, analysis, and reporting activities
  4. Provide thought leadership in the field of health equity analytics through publications, presentations, and/or participation in relevant conferences and forums
  5. Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
  6. Advise senior leadership on data-driven strategies to advance health equity and inform policy decisions
  7. Collaborate across departments with clinical and executive leaders, lead through influence, and take direct responsibility for strategic planning and implementation of operational and evaluation functions within IDEA and in partnership with other departments as relevant to health equity strategic priorities
  8. Maintain a broad awareness of project status in support of the organization’s health equity initiatives, giving feedback on process protocols and products; and providing oversight of conceptual frameworks for data analysis
  9. Foster cross-project learning and perspectives, and devise frameworks, tools, and approaches that leverage new insights and center health equity
  10. Develop and oversee internal processes that advance excellence and codification of consistent processes for data validation and analysis in an effort to advance the organization’s practices, learning, and business in service of the mission to end health disparities and advance health equity
  11. Ensure industry-standard best practices for internal and external data reporting and dissemination including addressing issues of compliance with research and quality improvement best practices (e.g., data benchmarks, methodologies, and operationalization)
  12. Work fluently and forge strong relationships with technology partners internally as well as with external vendors and technology suppliers
  13. Support the development of advanced data models, artificial intelligence, predictive models, and machine learning using the latest industry standards and technology and develop and operationalize advanced statistical models and analytic tools where appropriate, based on original organizational capacity and readiness
  14. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor Degree is required
  • Epic Clarity certification required
  • Epic Cogito Certification required
  • Epic Caboodle Certification required
  • More than 5 years of progressive experience encompassing direct patient care, progressive responsibility for technical data and reporting is required.
  • Expertise in data analysis, data management, and program evaluation methodology is required.
  • Specialized clinical training with record of experience in direct patient care required.
  • Track record of prior experience in roles with progressive responsibility for data analytics and data visualization required.
  • Prior experience in management and leadership is required.
  • Understanding of population health and health equity related analytics is required.
  • Experience with population health across payer and provider segments of the healthcare sector (e.g., work with multiple payers, patient population segmentation, value-based performance, and population health analytics) is preferred.
  • Experience with data requirements for clinical/patient-oriented research preferred (e.g., IRB processes, grant writing, confidentiality and data protections in research) is preferred
  • Experience with SQL, R, Python, data visualization and other related technical tools and systems (e.g., Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) strongly preferred.
