This role requires collaboration across teams, optimizing underwriting processes, analyzing policyholder behaviors, and contributing to business improvements.
Responsibilities
- Underwriting Innovation and Risk Pricing
- Develop and execute actuarial analyses to assess current and proposed underwriting practices.
- Create methodologies for predicting applicant non-disclosure.
- Enhance automated underwriting systems and collaborate with underwriting teams to implement improvements.
- Optimization of Automated Underwriting
- Partner with data teams to design tools for analyzing underwriting data.
- Evaluate automated underwriting rules, identifying opportunities for enhancement.
- Adjust rules based on new data or guideline updates.
- Underwriting for New Partnerships
- Assist in developing underwriting and risk controls for new product launches.
- Monitor underwriting effectiveness and address identified risks.
- Communicate with stakeholders regarding underwriting changes and outcomes.
- Policyholder Behavior Analysis
- Conduct actuarial analyses on the impact of policyholder behaviors on business metrics.
- Identify strategies to optimize behavioral outcomes in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Data Management
- Work with data teams to gather, update, and maintain relevant data sets.
- Perform regular reviews of data to support ongoing projects and address issues proactively.
- Communication
- Draft reports summarizing analysis findings and recommendations.
- Delegate tasks within the team and provide progress updates to leadership.
Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Business.
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or Career Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
- Experience
- FSA with a minimum of 6 years of experience, OR
- Career ASA with 12+ years of experience.
- Skills
- Proficient in data manipulation tools (e.g., R, Python, Excel, Tableau).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Highly organized and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-driven and proactive in problem-solving and project execution.

- Compensation
- Salary range: $121,000 - $166,450, with potential for bonuses, long-term incentives, and annual performance-based rewards (target 20% of base salary).
