Data Science Intern (8-month Co-op/Internship)

AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic. We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.

We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a BSc/BASc/BEng/MSc degree in a relevant field to join our Technology Integration team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025. In this role, you will design and develop tools to help scientists access and analyze key experimental data for selecting drug candidates.

While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Technology Integration team. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.

How you might spend your days

• Developing innovative approaches to analyze data from biophysical and analytic experiments in support of AbCellera’s drug development efforts
• Creating interactive tools with custom data visualizations that highlight key results
• Collaborating with scientists, data scientists, and software engineers to design and build your data analysis tools
• Managing big data and our reporting workflow to query, clean, and share data for scientists to review
• Supporting scientists in data upload in ELN platforms (e.g. Benchling) to standardize our data analysis pipelines
• Training others on how to use your tools and implementing their feedback

We'd love to hear from you if

• You are currently enrolled in a BSc, BASc, BEng, or MSc program in a relevant field, such as Data Science, Computer Science, Biology, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, or Physics
• You have some familiarity with using Python, SQL, and/or R for data analysis and visualization, and are eager to learn more
• You have a solid understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis
• You are passionate about making data accessible to others and presenting data in an attractive and clear way
• You are a great communicator who is skilled at distilling complex data for a broad audience
• Adapting your work to the rapidly moving drug development landscape excites you

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all!), and sick leave time while on your internship. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
