We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to join our Cardiology Marketing and Digital Enablement team, with a focus on the WATCHMAN and FARAPULSE businesses. In this role, you will apply your expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and advanced analytics to develop impactful, data-driven solutions that address key business challenges. You’ll work closely with product managers, data engineers, and marketing leaders, serving as a key subject matter expert within the organization. Your ability to translate complex data into actionable insights will drive innovation and directly impact business outcomes across our digital landscape.

The position is based in Maple Grove, MN, with a hybrid work arrangement that requires three days in-office per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and deploy AI/ML models to predict key marketing and business metrics, such as leads and conversions.
  • Perform customer segmentation, journey analysis, churn prediction, and lifetime value analysis to optimize marketing strategies.
  • Design and execute A/B tests and controlled experiments to assess the effectiveness of digital marketing initiatives.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights that guide business decisions.
  • Provide data-driven solutions to address business challenges and support strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure smooth model deployment and performance tracking.
  • Clearly communicate complex algorithms and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in healthcare data science and AI/ML to drive ongoing digital innovation.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience applying AI/ML in business applications, or 10+ years of relevant AI/ML experience in business settings in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in Python and related data science libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Experience working with various data types, including structured, unstructured, and image data, to develop models and perform analyses.
  • Experience with healthcare data, such as claims, real-world evidence (RWE), or electronic health records (EHR).
  • Proven experience applying data science in commercial environments (e.g., marketing or sales) to achieve business outcomes.
  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and database technologies for deploying data science models.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an agile development environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven, iterative solutions.
  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific algorithms and their integration into clinical systems and workflows.
  • Experience with tools and data vendors such as AWS, Snowflake, Komodo Health, IQVIA, or Definitive Healthcare.
  • Working knowledge of data engineering practices to support end-to-end data science workflows.
