Student assistant: FEM Simulation and Programming

At the Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen, we work with more than 530 employees every day to make the production of the future more digital, more flexible and more sustainable. We, the modeling and simulation group of »Glass and Precision Manufacturing« department, are looking for motivated student assistants involved in highly innovative research projects. Your main tasks consist of FEM simulation and Python programming allowing you to broaden your research experience besides your studies. Furthermore, you will collaborate with a highly experienced research team with interdisciplinary backgrounds.

What you will do

• Support the team to improve the accuracy of the FEM simulation model 
• Post-processing the simulation results in Python
• Data analysis and visualization
• Numerical modeling and programing for model optimization & machine-learning

What you bring to the table

• You are studying Computational Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Simulation Sciences or a comparable subject
• Good programming competence e.g. in Python or Fortran is advantageous
• Basic Experience in FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation tools e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS 
• Good analytical skills and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary project work
• Initiative, excellent communication skills and a passion for teamwork
