The Senior Director of Software Development will provide strategic and technical leadership, vision, and direction of the engineering development teams. In this role you will manage budget, direct resource planning, project scheduling and execution using Agile software development methodologies and establish policies and procedures that produce high-quality software products.  You will be a product development ambassador by collaborating, negotiating, managing tradeoffs, and evaluating new ideas and opportunities with solution partners.Here's what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:Job Duties 
  • Lead a team of engaged directors and mangers by communication of and accountability for performance expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching and developing employees
  • Direct engineering teams in the execution of large-scale initiatives and program design including application architecture, development, testing, automation, UAT, production implementation, and support of solutions required by the business to achieve business growth objectives and excellent member experiences
  • Provide strategic direction to the engineering teams in the integration of vendor solutions using multiple software languages
  • Partner with key stakeholders including Enterprise Data & Analytics, Infrastructure, security, enterprise architecture, IT operations, digital products, retail, marketing, consumer lending, fraud operations, XC, CXC, and other internal partners as well as external stakeholders to deliver industry leading solutions and experiences that align with strategic goals; Lead users and stakeholders to implement and support agreed upon solutions through consensus building.
  • Direct multiple large, complex and/or highly visible programs that have significant financial, reputational, or regulatory risk, and requires deep and broad subject matter expertise
  • Partner with Human Resources to create learning and development opportunities aligned to the organization’s skill and capability needs, and to provide rewarding career paths for software engineering staff
  • Evolve iPaaS and meet key engineering KPI’s while adhering to SDLC and designated SLAs
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team and product managers to develop a strategy and roadmap for continuous process improvement
  • Partner with stakeholders and direct architects and senior engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new solution integration and development
  • Evaluate and manage security risks in solution design and development
  • Partner with the cyber security team to ensure information security risk and vulnerability engineering development guidelines are being adhered to
  • Design and deliver software engineering KPIs such as velocity, quality metrics, release metrics, automation etc. that is inclusive of First Tech’s performance as well as industry benchmark data; Measure and track progress towards qualitative objectives and quantitative goals.
  • Establish and manage relationships with third party strategic partners
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing and developing teams of highly competent developers in fast paced, collaborative, test-driven, and iterative programming environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Test-driven development
  • Expertise in a wide variety of solutions covering EDW, core banking, and financial institution specific applications.
  • Expertise in a wide variety of Enterprise-Wide Data Warehouse solutions covering CRM, Online Banking, Mobile Banking, Web, Core Banking, FiServ, CO-OP, FIS, Consumer Lending, Mortgage, Zelle Network, and financial institution specific applications. 
  • Experience in full stack of Data Warehouse Platforms and ETL tools like Snowflake, Talend, Tableau, Scripting languages – Perl/Shell & Python, NO SQL, Informatica, Alteryx, Cloud based infrastructure – private, public and hybrid, Caching, SQL, REST/SOAP API, Big Data, Hadoop and Casandra  
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes (experience in Jira, Jenkins, Code repository and code scanning tools). 
  • Experience integrations solutions from Fiserv, CO-OP, Alkami, SFDC, Temenos / Avoka, Ellie Mae an advantage 
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems and design robust, scalable automation solutions. Advanced competency in object-oriented design, data structures, integration design patterns, and complexity analysis

  • Excellent project management skills, including prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management, and tracking of commitments.
  • Ability to be a product development ambassador by collaborating, negotiating, managing tradeoffs, and evaluating opportunistic new ideas with solution partners
  • Excellent, persuasive, and influential written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Proven people management and development skills, adept at providing frequent and valuable performance feedback to develop and build employees
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
