Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
Position Summary:
- Analyze and interpret seasonal forecast data and disseminate the seasonal forecasts on a web platform.•
- Recommend and implement improvements of the multiple regression and machine learning seasonal forecast model
- Lead the seasonal forecasting model research project independently and report to collaborators and stakeholders every four weeks
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in python, linux, GitHub and web development (not mandatory)
- Experience in Mathematical modelling
- Research design and execution
- Scientific writing and communication
- Statistical data analysis
Experience and Education:
Education:
- Master's degree in ocean science, physics, engineering, computer science or related field
Experience:
- Conducted independent research projects
- Published papers in peer-reviewed journals
- Presented findings at conferences
- Collaborated with interdisciplinary teams
*Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
*Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 3 on a scale of 0-4.
