PeopleCert is seeking a Data Engineering Team Leader who will play a crucial role in managing and mentoring a team of data engineers to design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and tools necessary to process, store, and analyze large volumes of data.  The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions due to their extensive hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure technologies, including Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Delta Lake, as well as proficiency in API interactions. 

 

As a Data Engineering Team Leader your tasks will include the following:

  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers, guiding them to build and maintain high-performance data systems. 
  • Architect and design scalable and efficient data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes that can support large-scale data processing and analytics. 
  • Lead and manage the execution of data engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards. 
  • Spearhead the integration and smooth interaction of APIs to facilitate efficient data exchanges and integrations across various platforms and services. 
  • Lead initiatives in utilizing Python programming techniques to enhance data processing workflows, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and performance. 
  • Conduct complex data manipulation and analysis, driving data-driven decision-making processes. 
  • Focus on architecture and implementation of integration pipelines, guaranteeing integrity, reliability, and security of data throughout its lifecycle. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, and provide insights into the development of scalable and robust data solutions. 
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry’s best practices, emerging trends in data engineering, and cloud technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of innovation in data management. 

 

What we look for:

  • Academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree or higher is preferred. 
  • Extensive experience in the field of Data Engineering, in large-scale projects, especially in a Microsoft Azure environment. 
  • Exceptional proficiency in SQL and experience with complex data structures and analysis. 
  • Extensive experience with Azure data technologies (Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Delta Lake), integration pipelines, and data processing workflows. 
  • Strong familiarity with Delta Lake architecture. 
  • Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and effectively communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.  
  • In-depth knowledge of Python programming, API development, and integration. 
  • Excellent command of the English language (C2 level certification desired, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus) and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.  
  • A results-driven mindset and an impact-driven approach in delivering projects.  
  • An enthusiastic attitude and the ability to keep peers and team members motivated to excel.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) 

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared. 

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include: 

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check 
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence) 
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) 
  • Financial background check 
  • Employment reference check 

 

If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.
