Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Data Governance will be responsible for implementing and managing data governance processes for the Company, while simultaneously managing the development of high-priority, data products. This role establishes, deploys, and enforces the policies and procedures for end-to-end data governance across Divisions/Groups to ensure data is defined, used and maintained properly. He or she works closely with the technical/system architecture teams to define operational processes for monitoring compliance to policies and standards, while coordinating with divisional data stewards to execute tactical data governance activities such as defining data quality rules and remediating issues. They aim to promote efficient, accurate records, and effective information management throughout the Company, leveraging their deep understanding of the data environment and coordinating with key stakeholders on both business and technical teams. Similarly, through leading cross-divisional data projects, this role will establish best practices for coordinating with Information Technology counterparts to develop new data products for the Company.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee integrity, usability, and security of all data assets across the enterprise  
  • Check compliance against data governance policies and standards  
  • Ensure best practice documentation of policies  
  • Work with data stewards to implement various data governance processes such as data cataloging, metadata management, data quality management, data privacy and sharing standards etc.  
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve compliance and data quality  
  • Implement data quality monitoring and improvement measures to meet data quality thresholds as defined by business users  
  • Guide data stewards in monitoring activities for each data governance component (e.g., quality, security) and support reporting of enterprise-wide data quality metrics  
  • Ensure governance / decision mechanisms are in place to address cross-team dependencies  
  • Heavily support deployment activities including but not limited to compiling an up-to-date data catalog and ensuring consistent data definitions  
  • Support technical teams with tracking data storage and its impact on performance, and approve data retiring to ensure continuity in new architecture 
  • Manage the implementation of Business Innovation elements of the Data Strategy roadmap.
     

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field

  • Domain Expertise  
    • 5+ years of experience in a data management role  
    • Proven ability to coordinate cross functional teams of business, IT and other stakeholders  
    • Background in computer science, engineering, or related areas  
    • Thorough knowledge and operational skills in data governance, data quality methods, storage repositories, and tools  
    • Experience designing and deploying automated data quality issue identification and remediation tools (e.g., RPA to automate repetitive and rule-based tasks including running test scripts) 
  • Agile/Digital Experience  
    • Experience working with data in a modern data platform / architecture (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and with third-party cataloging solutions (e.g., Collibra, Alation)  
    • Experience in Agile Development, with specific data-oriented experience preferred  
    • Experience managing technical priorities within the backlog 
  • Individual Skills  
    • Experience with project management and leadership in enterprise-wide / cross-functional role  
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to with ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders  / vendors and communicate outcomes and objectives  
    • Detail-oriented with great problem-solving and analytical skillset
  • Mindset & Behaviors  
    • Ownership mindset as key subject matter lead and resource for all governance-related issues  
    • Focus on optimization and finding opportunities for improvement  
    • Naturally curious and rigorous in getting to the bottom of issues and questions
       

 Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $190,400.00 - $240,000.00

 

Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
