PSE's Energy Supply Merchant team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Consulting Quantitative Risk Analyst position!


Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.

Job Description

Work directly with the PSE Merchant traders to lead the technical administration, maintenance, and operation of the unified PCI ETRM platform.  Work with traders and business analysts to design technical solutions to improve the performance of trading, compliance, auditing, and all related operations for the Merchant organization.  Coordinate with PSE’s primary ETRM vendor to coordinate design, development, and deployment of system upgrades and improvements. Works with PSE’s data group to design and deploy a unified data architecture for trading and related data.

 

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on administration of the power and gas PCI ETRM platform.
  • Work closely with power and gas traders to design optimization and trading solutions inside of the PCI ETRM platform.
  • Create and improve quantitative models for forecasting and optimization of natural gas and electric resources, portfolio management, and energy trading activities.
  • Own and be accountable for accuracy of model results inside the PCI platform and justification of methodologies.
  • Coordinate resolution of technical issues inside the PCI ETRM with the vendor.
  • Design and coordinate implementation of data management solutions supporting trading operations inside or outside of the PCI ETRM platform.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. (Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or similar)
  • Minimum 8 years work experience, with at least 4 as a quantitative analyst in the energy industry
  • Proficiency with quantitative methods and concepts including regression analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, stress testing, and scenario analysis
  • Familiarity with production cost modeling and software such as Plexos, Aurora, GenTrader, PROMOD, etc.
  • Programming experience in Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, or similar
  • Experience with financial analysis and risk measurement techniques
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel, including proficiency in writing macros  and queries
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision in a fast paced, stressful, and multitasking environment

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of direct experience using or supporting PCI ETRM software
  • 10+ years of energy industry experience, preferably in technical role
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field
  • Familiarity with electricity and natural gas trading and risk management operations software
  • Knowledge of western natural gas and power markets

The pay range for this position is $116,300.00 - $193,600.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
