Applied Scientist (All genders)

The mission of the Process Intelligence and Applied Science team is to analyse and improve Zalando’s internal processes through automation. Our products facilitate continuous process and workflow improvement, ML-based process automation and ML-based decision making.

As an Applied Scientist you will help drive our scientific roadmap by applying your scientific capabilities to deliver projects in collaboration with other Applied Scientists, Software Engineers and Product Managers.
 

WHERE YOUR EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED

• Apply  your scientific problem solving skills by working on different classification, forecasting and anomaly detection problems

• Develop long-term scientific roadmaps to address complex fashion challenges using state-of-the-art ML solutions, ensuring that we stay at the forefront of innovation

• Monitor and improve ML algorithms that run in production

• Collaborate with engineers within our team, department and with business stakeholders across the company to bring the developed models to production 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• A Master of Science or PhD with a focus on Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar quantitative fields. Minimum of 2 years of industry experience.

• Sound theoretical and applied knowledge about machine learning and statistics. Solid  coding  skills for prototyping and writing production-ready code. Strong experience with Python, including numerical packages (numpy), data handling (pandas), machine learning (scikit-learn)

• Practical experience in deploying machine learning models into production (AWS, K8s, CI/CD, github, REST APIs)

• Experience in working with Big Data technologies (Apache Spark/Databricks) and relational databases (e.g PostgreSQL)
