About the Canada Intern Program

The 2025 Canada program runs for 12 weeks (May 5 – August 22). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development. Our internships align with Autodesk’s Flexible Workplace approach, which is designed to meet the needs of our business while providing flexibility in support of office, remote and hybrid work preferences.

Position Overview

The intern will join our AI and machine learning team, collaborating on optimizing the inference and training processes for large deep learning models. Reporting to a senior ML researcher/engineer, the role involves investigating and implementing cutting-edge techniques to improve model serving and training efficiency while balancing speed, accuracy, and resource utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze deep learning models in production and training environments to identify bottlenecks in inference and training times

  • Explore and implement optimization techniques such as quantization, batch inference, model partitioning, and caching

  • Investigate methods to accelerate training workflows, including mixed precision training, gradient accumulation, and distributed training

  • Evaluate the trade-offs between speed, accuracy, and resource usage for different optimization strategies

  • Utilize tools and libraries like TensorRT, PyTorch Distributed, and asynchronous processing frameworks to enhance performance

  • Document findings and provide actionable recommendations for integrating optimized models into production and training pipelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field

  • Hands-on experience with deep learning model optimization for inference and training

  • Proficiency in using frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, TensorRT, or similar libraries

  • Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with techniques like quantization, mixed precision training, and distributed training strategies
