The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic team at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of 3D printing, optics, sensor, with a focus on materials for optical waveguides and other optical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research related to optical waveguide materials and engineering.

  • Optimize formulations for UV 3D printing and direct ink writing 3D printing.

  • Contribute to ongoing research projects in optics and photonics.

  • Design and prototype using CAD software and 3D printing technologies.

  • Collaborate with faculty and researchers on interdisciplinary projects.

  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.

  • Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemistry, Sensors, or a related field.

  • Strong background in formulation for 3D printing.

  • Experience with optimization of ink formulation for 3D printing.

  • Demonstrated expertise in optics research.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and 3D printing technologies.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB.

  • Experience with machine learning and AI applications in engineering.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
