The Data Operations Principal, will perform complex analysis and troubleshooting work related to data processing, Hosting and Mapping modules including, but not restricted to Data extraction, Hosting administration and metadata manipulation on large and complex databases. They will act as a technical escalation point internally for Data Operations, Project Managers and external Clients. Principal position is required to be a subject matter expert on all Data Operations workflows.
Responsibilities
- Find gaps in current workflows/design and implement new procedures for the entire department
- Assist with the resolution of any software or hardware issues related to the supported applications.
- Provide support for escalated service requests, including problem identification and resolution.
- Perform data intake, extraction, and processing activities necessary to prepare data for attorney review.
- Assist the Data Ops Managers in authoring and peer reviewing technical documentation necessary to make the assigned systems operational and efficient.
- Create and Maintain platform templates and applications
- Prepare document productions for delivery.
- Maintain technical documentation necessary to make the assigned systems operational and efficient.
- Ensure compliance and conduct adherence audits for Data Ops policies and procedures.
- Assist with training for new or changing workflows.
- Answer and appropriately handle incoming service requests via e-mail, voicemail, phone, IM, and in person. Escalate problems when appropriate.
- Conduct quality control evaluations of each process performed.
- Work effectively as part of a project team.
- Solve basic, moderate, and complex technical issues, such as database import errors and unknown source data formats.
- Provide assistance and guidance to other team members.
- Stand in for the processing Team Lead when they are out of the office.
- Assist data operations in coordination with development team on requirements gathering and testing.
- Design, execute, train and transition new data ops workflows & methodologies on custom projects.
- Be responsive to and responsible for technical escalations in data operations work stream.
- Liaise with IT and application support on data operations requirements.
- Approach all workflows in an analytical manner and think ahead of what errors/issues could be introduced with any steps and provided guidance to management on how to remove these errors/issues.
- Conduct technical interviews for prospective new hires.
- Conceptualize & execute platform agnostic client or domain specific custom workflows
- Provide support for escalated service requests, including problem identification and resolution.
Qualifications
- BE/MCA degree with minimum 8 years’ work experience in a litigation support environment working with eDiscovery systems in terabyte-sized matters.
- Experience with software applications common to the eDiscovery process, such as EnCase, dtSearch, Nuix, Law Pre-discovery, IPRO, Relativity, Reveal, Venio, iCONNECT, and Concordance.
- Well-developed understanding of advanced eDiscovery practices, procedures, and processes (metadata and text extraction, native file to image conversion, OCR processing, and output to document review applications)
- Proficiency with data management services (loading images to a network, burning CDs/DVDs, etc.). Loading data into database applications, conducting database inquiries, and developing reports for project teams.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation) with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff in a clear manner.
- Customer service oriented, willing to work additional hours as necessary including weekends.
- Strong organizational skills and able to effectively manage multiple projects in fast paced environment with tight time deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and MS operating systems preferred.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and in a team environment.
- Maintains high quality standards and attention to detail in work product.
- Experience working under tight deadlines in fast-paced data production environments

- Strong working knowledge of basic PC functions and Windows environment (e.g., MS Office)
- Knowledge of general database, networking, and file-systems concepts
- Experience with several of the following preferred: SQL, Visual Basic/VB Script, MS-Access, Python
- Advanced knowledge on Regular Expressions on tools like SQL, Ultraedit, Notepad++, Textpad etc
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and learn customized proprietary software
- Relevant eDiscovery domain certifications like CEDS, Relativity, Reveal, SightLine etc.
Work timing:
- May be required to work in 24x7 shifts depending on business needs. Would be required to participate in global connect calls, typically in the evenings.
