You’ll be working within Tech/Infra as a Software Developer, with a specific focus on Golang.  At ING, the purpose of Tech/Infra is to deliver reliable and cost-competitive IT Infrastructure services that can be consumed on-demand via a self-service portal and APIs. You’ll be working as a core member of a multi-disciplinary squad with end-to-end responsibility of the software development of the API stack.  Your focus will be on delivering high quality, corporate usable code that allows others to consume your code via API’s.

Day with GTDCN

After getting your first cup of coffee, either at the office or at home, you start your computer and logon to the network. You see that one of the periodic unit tests that you wrote suddenly failed. You instantly jump on it and start troubleshooting to see what went wrong. Just after you committed the fix to Azure DevOps, you have the standup with the rest of your Squad to see verify the status of your stories and mention what you did to solve the sudden error.

Next to the standups, you have several sessions with people from other groups within ING to get the ideas and facilities clear to write an easy to use and portable API in the Golang language. You will use libraries from other teams and create your own to be used by other teams.

In the afternoon you planned to work on your user stories and make sure that you deliver your commitments in this sprint. You write, test and validate your code using industry standards and make sure your code adheres to internal and industry standards. You are not shy in creating new standards internally if needed and document what you wrote in a clear and readable fashion.

Of course, since you work at a large financial institute, you make sure your code is safe, and you wrote tests to make sure it is and remains compliant with banking requirements. In the spare moments when writing software, you consider what the topic for your next demo would be and how to incorporate feedback from the last demo you gave.

If you recognize yourself in such a potential day, then we are looking for you!

You will work in the tribe GTDCN which stands for Global Tribe Datacenter and Networks and is part of the Tech/Infra department, one of the key tribes that facilitates and hosts the compute infrastructure for ING’s Private Cloud environment. Together with your colleague’s you are responsible for that infrastructure and making sure it’s secure, available and compliant all the time. The business depends on you.

To be considered for this position you should be demonstratable knowledgeable in the Golang language. You can read and parse VB and ASP.Net code and ideally have affinity with Ansible/Python or PowerShell.

It would be a large pre if you also have experience or affinity with Virtualization products like VMware, where you will write the API code for.
