Our Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) division is a general insurance (GI) business that provides insurance solutions for large corporate and specialty products for commercial entities. Its core product lines are Property, Casualty, Auto, Surety, and Equipment Breakdown (EBI).

This opportunity is for an Actuarial Team Lead focused on our GCS Operations, located in downtown Toronto. You will be part of a team that supports the existing portfolio of corporate risks, programs, and MGAs. You will lead pricing initiatives in conjunction with other supporting resources such as Data Science and Underwriting teams to drive profitable growth for GCS products. Additionally, you will ensure your various stakeholders have timely and accurate information to enhance business insight and decision-making. As a Team Lead, you will provide leadership, lead projects, and present to internal clients. By finding solutions to challenging problems and presenting to senior management, you will have plentiful opportunities to take your skills to the next level.

What you'll do:

  • Lead pricing initiatives and formulate pricing proposals to achieve rate adequacy and align with business strategic initiatives.

  • Develop pricing tools that are actuarially sound and feature new technologies with an approach to improve efficiency.

  • Develop rating algorithms applying the latest predictive modeling techniques to deliver rating structures that reflect emerging trends, underwriting insights, and data constraints.

  • Lead discussions with actuarial recommendations on various pricing initiatives, and proactively identify gaps and opportunities in existing proposals as well as future projects to suggest actions for remediation.

  • Analyze the business impact of pricing initiatives. Prepare and lead presentations to enable understanding of current and future GCS portfolios.

  • Build strong relationships with all key partners at head office and GCS. Identify the needs of our partners and tailor solutions that serve their needs.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum 4 years of P&C experience; Commercial pricing experience preferred.

  • Pursuing ACAS/FCAS designation.

  • Experience in working with or understanding pricing models.

  • Strong problem-solving and excellent data analytical skills (SAS, R, Python, etc.).

  • Stay current with industry developments and emerging trends, eager to learn.

  • Resourceful and able to work highly independently.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to communicate well and present ideas/decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

What you’ll get:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $71,300 to $132,300. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
