In addition, the position must be able to be successful in a dynamic environment, managing highly iterative and constantly changing requirements to enable delivery of desired outcomes, while at the same time being flexible. The ideal candidate will be accountable for execution of portfolio management strategy, ensuring that project progress is tracked and documented in alignment with both institutional and project-specific strategies and objectives.

The Portfolio Manager I will report to the Director of Business Operations, I2DB, and will receive cross-training from Portfolio Management to support initiatives such as the Human Data Review Committee (HDRC) and CuriMeta. This position may also support NIH-funded projects with project management, reporting and event planning.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaboration with Portfolio Management and leadership as well as other various internal and external stakeholders, to prioritize and manage new complex projects, to actively facilitate resolution to issues and to provide escalation for the team when project issues have portfolio-level impacts.
- Regulatory management, recruitment, management of data and support for analysis.
- Drives longer-term strategy in terms of active support for the implementation of multiple high-profile projects across the department, the medical school, and in conjunction with external stakeholders.
- Assists with other project management activities related to grant submissions (pre-award), budget planning, post-award projects, complex report compilation, analysis for reporting and editing of documents as required, regulatory and compliance management.
- Limited administrative support as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

This position requires a high level of professionalism and maturity. Tact and diplomacy are paramount. In addition, the candidate understands and embodies a high degree of emotional intelligence and applied curiosity as it relates to the Institute’s mission and vision. The employee will work with faculty, staff, students and key stakeholders to execute and promote the business and scientific objectives of assigned projects. The role will provide support and project planning on high-touch initiatives and special projects, and will serve as a steward for several key strategic initiatives to advance WashU Medicine’s impact and national leadership, potentially including:
- CuriMeta: A platform to originate, curate and manage real-world evidence (RWE) projects involving WashU, BJC and life science companies, while also catalyzing new clinical research opportunities throughout the combined WashU/BJC clinical enterprise.
- HDRC: Data governance and operations for research and innovation, spanning WashU/BJC, with a particular emphasis on secondary use of clinical data for product development and the advancement of patient care via AI-enabled data analysis.
- Brain Gene Registry: NIH-funded multi-site data repository focused on rare pediatric genetic disorders.
- Bridge2AI: NIH-funded multi-site initiative studying the use of Voice as a biomarker of health.
- MDClone: A novel synthetic data generation technology that allows for the sharing and analysis of clinical data in a way that ensures patient confidentiality and privacy.
