Senior Data Scientist

About the role

• Barry Callebaut Digital (BC Digital) is on a mission to lead the digital revolution in the chocolate industry, and we're seeking a Senior Data Scientist, to help us build a to help us build a foundation for actionable insights, based on advanced analytics solutions. Based in our Singapore-based AI Center of Excellence, your role will focus on generating actionable insights, optimizing processes, and supporting AI CoE. This role will be key to developing predictive models, deploying data solutions, and fostering a data-driven culture across teams and requires deep expertise in data analysis, machine learning and a strategic mindset to drive innovation.
• As part of the BC Digital CDAO organization in this role, you will work closely with data scientists, AI engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to identify and lead Data-driven initiatives underpinning the AI initiatives from ideation through to implementation. Key responsibilities include

•  Data Exploration & Analysis
  • Collect, process, and analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights that support business goals.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand data patterns, trends, and relationships.
  • Present insights to stakeholders in a clear, compelling manner, aiding decision-making and strategic planning.
• Model Development and Deployment
  • Design, develop and deploy advanced predictive and machine learning models to solve complex business problems.
  • Evaluate and optimize model performance using best practices and advanced techniques.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate models into production environments and ensure scalability.
  • Analyze experimental results and provide actionable recommendations based on statistical analysis.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement o Partner with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and operations, to understand business needs and translate them into data science solutions.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and AI experts to provide data models for AI-based solutions
• Research and Innovation
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning and AI, and apply them to enhance our data practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data workflows, tools, and technologies, contributing to a robust data science ecosystem.
• Work closely with business stakeholders across Barry Callebaut, to analyze business problems and identify the right data to answer their questions
  • Work closely with data engineers to provide large amounts of unstructured data and transform them into usable data models
  • Ensure that business logic is reflected properly in data and AI models
  • Identify opportunities to optimize pipelines and models for performance and scalability

About you

• Degree in IT/technology, data analytics, or a comparable field
• Proficiency in English
• Extensive experience as a Data Scientist in a comparable role, with a minimum of 4-5 years of progressive experience
• Hands-on experience in developing data analytics and AI solutions using Azure components like Databricks and Data Factory
• Good understanding of data pipelines, ETL workflows, data warehousing, and Big Data processing
• Sound understanding of project management tools and methodologies incl Agile ways of working
• Extensive experience in Data Science languages for instance Python & SQL and familiarity with AI/ML models
• Skills to create internal and external partnerships/networks across the organization
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a structured way of working
• Creative and strategic thinker, with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement
• Experience in the chocolate or food industry is a plus, but not essential
• Exhibits a passion for Data Science & AI, constantly seeking new and creative solutions to enhance processes, decision-making and user experiences
• Collaborates well across diverse and globally distributed teams, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships across different levels and functions of the organization
