About this role: Pickle is on the hunt for a dynamic and driven Platform Engineer to revolutionize the future of warehouse automation. You will improve and maintain our computing infrastructure: both on-site and cloud. You will be part of our multidisciplinary team which handles computing, DevOps, telemetry, and configuration. Our system is constantly evolving and we are tackling hard, unsolved problems in robotic material handling. There will be plenty of opportunities to contribute to the direction of our product and its computing architecture.
What You’ll Accomplish:
- Manage on-site Ubuntu server infrastructure for robotic control and data processing systems.
- Design and implement scalable infrastructure solutions to support evolving robotic system requirements
- Manage network performance, security protocols, and remote access infrastructure.
- Conduct comprehensive performance benchmarking of computing infrastructure across server and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with robotics engineering teams to understand computational performance needs
- Manage and execute operating system updates and security patches across all computational platforms.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure monitoring and alerting systems.
- Optimize system security, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Assist other members of the team with their responsibilities
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years experience managing Linux server infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge of Ubuntu server administration.
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Performance benchmarking and optimization expertise.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker).
- Ideally experience with industrial robotics computational infrastructure.
- Strong verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for critical issue response.
- Ability to work from our Cambridge, MA office at least 3x per week
